Lots of people make this mistake for every kind of gift card you can ever think of.
Walmart, American Express, Amazon, and the list goes on.
This is the reason why I always prefer plastic cards which are unfortunately becoming obsolete.
Well, If you’ve ever scratched off a DoorDash gift card, this article explains everything you need to know, step by step, to solve the problem.
How to Redeem DoorDash Gift Card Pin Scratched Off
In this article, there are 3 presented ways we like to approach situations like this.
However, before that, here are also 3 things you need to know.
- Know The Store Behind The Card: This is pretty basic for someone who got the card themselves. However, for the many people who may have been gifted, you might not be able to tell. If you want to redeem a scratched-off gift card, knowing the store that issued the card is quite important as you may need to contact them depending on the issue.
- There’s usually no policy between the two parties involved (DoorDash and the gift card issuer) concerning a scratched gift card. So everything that could happen is based on your approach.
- If you have the gift card issued by DoorDash, the process would be slightly easier. Yes, DoorDash offers Gift Card.
So what if you were gifted?
Well, an easy way to tell is to check the card for any clue or branded information.
Depending on the store, there could also be a contact us information (email address, support line, etc.)
And if you can’t find any of this, It’d be advisable to let the gifter know.
However, if you don’t want to add to the problems of the gifter, or you’ve satisfied the requirement (i.e., you know the gift card issuer), let’s get right into this article.
Contact DoorDash
The first step you want to take in an issue like this is to contact DoorDash.
But DoorDash did not issue the card, so why contact them?
- They own the card.
- They have track records of every pin (gift card) that is recognizable on their database.
- They could find the gift card pin with proper information from your end.
- They’re not at a loss when they redeem a gift card.
In other words, when contacting DoorDash you want to prove you actually got the card but weren’t able to use it, and you should be able to redeem your card if they trust you.
You can do this if you have the card receipt, a picture of the current situation of the card, and every other information you wish to share.
Now, there are several ways to contact DoorDash – their customer care phone number, email address, live chat on the app, social media handles, etc.
However, the one place I always recommend is Twitter.
Has worked severally for me and most people on this website.
Here, all you want to do is to make a tweet about the issue, tag DoorDash, provide adequate proof that you’re right.
You could also choose to chat them up. Works as well.
And just like this woman if a part of your gift card pin is visible, share it to DoorDash.
Having to track and find the gift card PIN in their database is more easier and straightforward compared to just giving you a new gift card or credit (based on the value of the gift card).
For one thing, they’re sure they’re not being duped this way.
Contact the Gift Card Partner
Contacting DoorDash works pretty well and remains our most recommended approach.
However, you can always contact a gift card partner.
For one reason, they’re behind the activation of cards (In other words, they make cards useful or worthless), and depending on the issuer, they could have physical stores.
This is the same for Walmart and a few other stores.
Well, you want to take advantage of this.
Go to their physical store (preferably, the store you bought it from) and demand a card replacement.
Offer them the “scratched-off” card, and you should get a replacement following whatever protocols the store operates with. Keep in mind you might get charged for this.
For an issuer with no physical store, you want to contact their support line. For some issuers, for instance, American Express, you should find a page where you could report gift card casualties.
As long they’re reputable they should be able to get back to you.
Make a BBB Complaint
This is an approach you only want to take when everything fails.
Here’s how you do it.
Before filing a complaint, ensure you have all relevant details documented.
This includes the gift card number, purchase information, and any attempts made to resolve the issue with DoorDash directly. Take a clear picture of the scratched-off PIN area.
Next, you visit the BBB’s official website and locate their complaint filing section. The process is straightforward and user-friendly.
You’ll need to provide your contact information, a description of the problem, and what you believe would be a fair resolution (e.g., a replacement card or a refund)
Once your complaint is filed, the BBB will contact DoorDash on your behalf.
You can track the status of your complaint through the BBB website. The organization will facilitate communication between you and DoorDash to work towards a resolution.
