Stuart vs Deliveroo: A quick overview
No doubt; Stuart and Deliveroo are pretty much platforms in the same industry.
But what are the differences?
Well, let’s start by taking a quick overview of them…
A France-based Company, Stuart is a delivery company founded way back in 2014.
Unlike Deliveroo, which is only focused on making food deliveries, Stuart offers its service across a vast type of products and industries including retail, e-commerce and food deliveries. Hence, it has an edge over variety.
While Stuart was founded in France, it has since expanded across several countries especially in the UK, covering locations like the United Kingdom, Belgium and Spain, extensively, just to add a few.
Just like most delivery platforms, the goal for Stuart is to provide a reliable and efficient delivery solution following the last-mile delivery system.
On the other hand, we have Deliveroo, founded one year earlier before Stuart 2013 by William Shu and Greg Orlowski in London.
As a London-based originated online delivery food, it has since its inception, expanded to cover over 200 cities across 12 countries – a wider market base when compared with Stuart.
The company partners with local restaurants, offering a diverse range of cuisines and ensuring quick, efficient deliveries through its vast network of delivery drivers.
Deliveroo’s mission is to transform the way people experience food, enabling customers to order their favourite meals from the comfort of their homes or offices.

For the sake of simplicity, we’ll be dividing this section into 3 key points, which are listed above:

Average Earnings
Starting from Stuart, the company claims to offer guaranteed pay to customers, just like Uber Eats. While it’s still not definitive, here’s an overview:
The company pay is calculated purely based on the distance of the order in miles from the most efficient route. This covers both the distance to pick up as well as drop off.
The minimum payment per delivery is £3.40 for distances within 0.5 miles.
However, if the distance of the delivery is above 0.5 miles, the platform follows the official route which is £0.95 per mile with a said base pay of £2.93.
So for instance, for a delivery with 3 miles, your pay should be around $0.95*3 (the pay per mile multiplied by the total miles needed to be covered) + £2.93 (the base pay).
That’s a total of £5.78.
This is aside from the tips you may get.
So what about Deliveroo?
Well, unfortunately, Deliveroo doesn’t have any defined structure for calculating the earnings of a driver per delivery, open to the public.
However, the company claims to take into several factors to determine driver fees, such as distance, time spent on delivery, traffic flows, and order value.
From research, however, Deliveroo likely has a lower pay…
While Stuart’s average earnings might appear better than Deliveroo’s, you should compare other factors.
For instance, as you can see in the graph, Uber Eats offers a competitive miles pay just like Stuarts (a bit better), however, most of its orders would usually come from McDonald’s.
The problem with Mc Donalds?
There are always unusual wait times in most locations of these restaurants, resulting in increased time spent on orders.
If you’re someone who values time, this is most likely not a good vestment.
Market
While both platforms operate in similar industries, there are some differences, when it comes to their business model.
Firstly, their market.
Stuart’s goal is to cater for all sorts of delivery options such as parcels, retail items, food delivery and several other companies (in a variety of industries), the companies partner with.
With this you’re promised a wider market, working with Stuart.
On the other hand, the primary focus of Deliveroo is food delivery, partnering mostly with local restaurants, as well as some other big brands. With this, chances are, you’re likely to get more orders during peak meal times.
But it doesn’t make much difference right? Well, it does…
If you’re going in for food delivery, it could be a better option to go with Deliveroo or both, as they’re most likely to have a wider customer base and are focused on one particular industry.

On the other hand, Stuarts appear to pay better and would most likely have less competition depending on your location.
But, the only way you can know which works better for you is to give them a try. So why not?
